Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, a prominent lawmaker representing Anambra South in the Senate and a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), is dead.
Ubah passed away in a hotel in London, United Kingdom, just two days after arriving in the city.
Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu confirmed the death of the senator on Saturday.
Ubah, who ran in the 2014 Anambra State Governorship election under the Labour Party (LP), died at the age of 52, reportedly from cardiac arrest.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream was in London to attend his son’s graduation.
Before his death, Ubah was one of the aspirants aiming to contest for the Anambra APC governorship ticket next year.
Recently, Ubah’s campaign council donated ₦71 million to the APC in Anambra State, reinforcing the party’s influence and operations in the region. This donation included ₦50 million from Ubah himself.
Just days before his passing, Ubah met with prominent APC chieftain Hon Okwudili Oguejiofor, sharing his plans for tackling the state’s challenges and formally announcing his intention to run for governor.
In his efforts to support the APC, Ubah also provided substantial resources to party members, including Keke Napep vehicles, motorcycles, generators, and branded uniforms.
His passing leaves a significant void in the party’s leadership and strategy moving forward.
