Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has announced that he is considering running for the presidency in the 2027 elections. However, he has made it clear that he would withdraw his ambition if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to enter the race.

Mohammed made this statement on Thursday in response to a request from a non-governmental organization (NGO) that urged him to consider a presidential run. He explained that while he is weighing his options, Jonathan’s experience and leadership qualities make him a strong contender for the top job.

In his remarks, Mohammed highlighted Jonathan’s previous leadership and the positive impact of his administration. He praised Jonathan for his inclusive approach and his efforts to address issues such as the Almajiri system and youth unemployment. The governor described Jonathan’s tenure as one marked by effective leadership and a commitment to tackling critical national challenges.

“If Goodluck Jonathan decides to run, I will not present myself for leadership of this country,” Mohammed said. “I will support him with my blood. Out of modesty, he is still not ready. I hope you will meet him and encourage him to run.”

Mohammed also expressed confidence in Jonathan’s ability to manage the country, citing his past achievements and experience. According to the governor, Jonathan’s leadership was exemplary, and he would bring valuable insights and solutions to current issues such as inflation and economic challenges.
