He emphasized the importance of updating President Bola Tinubu on the situation after returning from his annual leave.

“I felt it was essential to come and brief the president on what we are doing as a government and to thank him for sending a delegation immediately after the incident,” Namadi added.

The quick response from President Tinubu has been met with gratitude from the people of Jigawa.

“The action taken by Mr. President has been appreciated by the people of Jigawa,” Namadi stated.

He detailed the efforts made by the state government to support the victims and their families.

“The state government has paid the medical bills for all those hospitalized,” he confirmed.

In addition, Namadi mentioned that numerous interventions are in place to provide relief to the affected families.

Namadi mentioned that a high-powered committee has been established by the state government to investigate the root causes of the explosion.

“This committee is headed by a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police. They will advise the government on what went wrong and how to prevent future occurrences,” he explained.

The governor also highlighted that President Tinubu had directed the Corps Marshal to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

“This is an important step toward finding a permanent solution to the issue of tanker explosions in Nigeria,” Namadi stated.

Tanker explosions are not a new concern in Nigeria, with similar incidents occurring in various states over the years.

The frequency of these tragedies has raised alarms about the safety standards in the transportation of hazardous materials.

Experts have called for stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent future accidents.

Local residents expressed their grief and frustration over the incident.

The state government’s response has been crucial in providing immediate aid to the victims and their families.

However, the long-term solution requires comprehensive policies and regulations to ensure the safe transportation of tankers across Nigeria.

Governor Namadi concluded his briefing with a call for unity and support for those affected.

“We must stand together as a community and support each other through this trying time,” he urged.
