In a bold call for national unity, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged Nigerians to support and pray for President Bola Tinubu.
Wike praised Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria, describing his leadership as focused on restoring hope and ensuring growth in the nation.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the six-lane Arterial Road N5, also known as Obafemi Awolowo Way in Abuja’s Life Camp, Wike stressed that Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” is essential for revitalizing the country.
Wike emphasized that President Tinubu is dedicated to addressing the concerns of Nigerians.
He said Tinubu’s agenda aims to rebuild trust in government, promote stability, and improve the lives of citizens.
“So I want all of you in prayer to continue to pray for Mr. President so that at the end of the day, the lost hope of our people will be gotten back,” Wike declared passionately.
Wike added that the president’s actions so far demonstrate a commitment to making Nigeria better.
“This government is here to bring back the hope that people have lost,” Wike said.
He assured residents that the new road construction was only possible because of approvals given by Tinubu, reflecting the president’s dedication to development in the FCT.
The “Renewed Hope Agenda” is a vision by Tinubu’s administration aimed at addressing longstanding issues facing Nigerians.
The president has spoken openly about his desire to restore hope and faith in Nigeria, particularly for those who have lost trust in the system.
By focusing on infrastructure, security, and economic opportunities, Tinubu hopes to rebuild this trust, beginning with projects like the Arterial Road N5.
The road project is intended to be completed in 18 months, but Wike has urged the contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria, to accelerate the project timeline to 14 months.
“Complete this road in 14 months instead of 18, and you’ll have more contracts from us,” Wike told the construction team, highlighting the urgency of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Wike, all major projects in the FCT currently underway are due to President Tinubu’s green light.
He emphasized that the president increased the funding limits, allowing the FCT administration to launch more initiatives in infrastructure, security, and education.
“We thank God that Mr. President, in his wisdom to ensure that work continues in the FCT, has increased our latitude by raising our threshold,” Wike stated.
This, he explained, has enabled the government to address critical needs, such as building schools and police stations, to provide essential services and improve security in the capital.
The Arterial Road N5 project is part of Tinubu’s broader strategy to boost economic activities in Abuja and make it a model city for Nigeria.
Wike assured residents that the road would create jobs, stabilize food prices, and attract more businesses to the FCT.
This six-lane road aims to reduce congestion, improve transport efficiency, and provide safer routes for both commuters and goods.
“A new road means more jobs and better access to goods, which helps in bringing down food prices,” Wike noted, emphasizing that these changes would uplift the local economy and benefit all Abuja residents.
The minister’s call for Nigerians to pray for Tinubu and support the government has sparked diverse reactions.
Some citizens appreciate the positive outlook Wike brings to the administration, seeing it as an effort to unite the country.
Others, however, are cautious, wanting to see concrete results before putting their full support behind the administration.
In his address, Wike stressed that the success of the “Renewed Hope Agenda” requires support from both the government and the citizens.
He called on Nigerians to show patience and faith as Tinubu’s team works toward improving infrastructure and service delivery.
“The president cannot do it alone. He needs our prayers and our patience,” Wike stated firmly.
