Nigerian music sensation Davido continues his commitment to philanthropy with a significant ₦300 million donation as he celebrates his 32nd birthday.
Nigerian music star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has announced plans to donate ₦300 million to orphanages and a charity that focuses on preventing youth drug abuse. The announcement was made on his official X account ahead of his 32nd birthday, which falls on November 21.
“Once again, for my birthday this year, we are donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is N300m. Details to follow soon,” Davido shared on Monday.
This donation is part of his annual tradition to give back to society. Davido has consistently shown a deep commitment to charitable causes, especially in supporting vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
Continuing a Tradition of Generosity
The upcoming ₦300 million donation follows a similar philanthropic initiative last year when Davido donated over ₦200 million to orphanages. In 2022, he had donated ₦250 million to 292 orphanages across the country to mark his 29th birthday.
Davido’s charitable work is largely driven through the Davido Adeleke Foundation (DAF), which he founded in 2022. The foundation’s mission is to raise funds and support orphanages and vulnerable children nationwide.
“I founded the DAF in 2022 with a strong desire and passion to continually assist and create a proper framework for the ongoing charitable works to benefit the good people of Nigeria,” Davido explained in a statement when launching the foundation. Since then, the foundation has raised millions and helped thousands of children.
Impacting the Lives of Vulnerable Children
Davido’s donations have made a profound impact on the lives of many Nigerian children. Through his foundation, the singer has been able to significantly improve the lives of orphaned and underprivileged children. In 2023, the foundation supported 424 orphanages across the country, directly benefitting 13,818 children.
