Crushing Blow: NAF Airstrikes Decimate Terrorist Food Depot in Lake Chad Basin

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has delivered a decisive blow to terrorist operations in the Lake Chad Basin.

On November 23, 2024, fighter aircraft from the air component of Operation Hadin Kai struck a critical food depot in Jubillaram, a notorious terrorist enclave in the Tumbuns area.

The operation was aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics and neutralizing key fighters.

NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, confirmed the success of the mission.

“This strategic location, identified through meticulous intelligence efforts, served as a critical food storage site and a sanctuary for terrorist commanders and fighters,” he said.

According to the Air Commodore, the terrorists in Jubillaram were linked to several recent attacks.

One such attack occurred on November 16, 2024, when troops in Kareto were ambushed.

In response, NAF launched a well-coordinated air interdiction mission to eliminate the threat.

The airstrikes targeted structures used as food storage and neutralized many terrorists on-site.

Mop-up operations using cannons ensured that fleeing terrorists were also eliminated.

“This mission’s success was the result of extensive intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions,” Akinboyewa explained.

The ISR missions conducted over several days confirmed the presence of terrorist structures camouflaged under dense vegetation.

NAF fighter jets bombarded the site, reducing the enclave to rubble.

Akinboyewa said the destruction of the food depot dealt a heavy blow to the terrorists’ logistical operations.

He added that the mission also diminished their capacity to launch future attacks.

“This operation demonstrates the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to defending our nation and people,” he said.

NAF’s efforts are part of a broader campaign under Operation Hadin Kai to restore peace in the troubled Lake Chad region.

The Lake Chad Basin has long been a hotspot for terrorist activities.

Groups operating in the area rely heavily on hidden supply depots and camps to sustain their operations.

By targeting such sites, the military aims to weaken the enemy’s ability to regroup and launch attacks.

Residents of nearby communities have praised the military for its proactive approach.

A local farmer, Aliyu Musa, said, “The terrorists have been a nightmare for us. They destroy our farms and take our food. This operation gives us hope for peace.”

The Nigerian Armed Forces have intensified their counterterrorism efforts in recent months.

Operation Hadin Kai has been particularly effective in dismantling terrorist networks in the northeast.

The operation includes coordinated actions by the air and ground forces.

Military analysts have lauded the recent success, calling it a significant step in the fight against insurgency.

The NAF has vowed to sustain its offensive against terrorist elements in the region.

“Our operations, both independent and joint, will continue until all enemies of Nigeria’s prosperity and wellbeing are brought to justice,” Akinboyewa declared.

While the success of this mission is encouraging, challenges remain in the fight against terrorism.

Terrorist groups in the Lake Chad Basin often adapt quickly, finding new ways to evade military action.

However, the military is equally determined to stay ahead of the threats.
