A local group in Katsina State has praised Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for his role in eliminating Abu Saleh, a notorious bandit leader terrorizing the region.
The group, known as Concerned Citizens of Jibia (CCJ), expressed their appreciation in a statement signed by their spokesperson, Muhammad Magayaki.
Magayaki credited the success to Matawalle’s proactive leadership and a strategic visit to Sokoto in September.
“A Turning Point in the Fight Against Banditry”
“This remarkable achievement highlights the unwavering dedication of the Nigerian Armed Forces under the directives of Honourable Bello Matawalle,” the CCJ’s statement read.
The group commended Matawalle’s courage and resilience, describing his hands-on approach as a game-changer in the fight against banditry.
Magayaki said the minister’s decision to visit dangerous areas and high-risk forests inspired troops and boosted their morale.
“This hands-on approach marks a turning point in the fight against banditry and demonstrates the minister’s exceptional commitment to restoring peace and security,” he added.
Intensified Military Operations Across States
The CCJ also acknowledged Matawalle’s efforts in driving military operations across Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, and Niger states.
The group claimed that these efforts have led to the elimination of about 80% of notorious bandits in the region.
“This is a clear mandate to neutralize bandit groups before the year ends,” Magayaki said.
He urged the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to sustain their momentum in ongoing operations.
Victory Over Abu Saleh: A Major Milestone
The death of Abu Saleh is seen as a major victory in the government’s campaign against banditry.
Abu Saleh was accused of leading violent raids and kidnappings across the northwest.
His elimination is expected to disrupt the operations of his criminal network and deter other bandit groups.
The CCJ believes this development will bring much-needed relief to affected communities.
Magayaki emphasized that the fight is not yet over but expressed confidence in the minister’s ability to restore peace.
“Matawalle’s Leadership Is Unprecedented”
The group praised Matawalle’s leadership style, calling it unprecedented in the fight against insecurity.
“We commend the courage and resilience of our minister and pray for Almighty God to continue guiding and strengthening him in his mission to eradicate criminal elements,” the CCJ said.
They urged the government to maintain the pressure on bandits and not allow them to regroup.
Hope for a Bandit-Free Northwest
As the year comes to an end, there is growing optimism among communities in Katsina and other affected states.
The CCJ expressed hope that Matawalle’s vision of a bandit-free northwest will soon become a reality.
They reaffirmed their support for the minister and the Nigerian Armed Forces, encouraging them to keep up the momentum.
