A revered Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ajani Bello, has passed away at the age of 84. His death was confirmed in the early hours of Friday.

“Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his creator,” wrote Akewugbagold. “SULTONUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland Sheikh Muhyideen AJANI BELLO, may Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah fridaos for you. Our hearts are full of grief and our eyes full of tears, but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator, the sole commander of life and death – ALLAH.”
The death of Sheikh Ajani Bello has also been confirmed by his son, Olanrewaju Katibi Bello, known as Aponle Anobi. In a post shared on social media, Aponle Anobi expressed his grief through crying emojis alongside a picture of his father. However, he refrained from giving further details about his father’s passing.
Throughout his life, Sheikh Bello was a staunch advocate for the education and spiritual development of the Muslim community. His teachings often emphasised the importance of unity, understanding, and faith in Islam. His influence extended beyond religious circles, as he was often called upon to offer counsel and guidance on social and moral issues.
