A man who offered a woman a lift home before raping her in a hotel room has been jailed for 10 years and six months.
Seyi Odeyemi, 23, offered the victim a ride from Camden, London, to her home for half the price of a taxi. Instead of taking her home, he drove her to a hotel near Northfleet, Kent.
The woman appeared semi-conscious when Odeyemi dragged her to a hotel room and raped her.
After the incident on September 3, 2023, the victim woke up confused, next to a man she did not recognize. She reported the incident to the police after confiding in a friend.
Odeyemi was arrested on September 7, 2023. At the time of the attack, he was already under a Sexual Risk Order, which he had breached.
Odeyemi, from Willesborough near Ashford, pleaded not guilty to rape and breaching the order. However, he was convicted of both charges at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.
In addition to his prison sentence, Odeyemi will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 20 years, must sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, and will be on license for an additional five years upon his release.
Detective Constable James Lake described Odeyemi as a “sexual predator” who subjected the victim to an “appalling ordeal.”
“He undoubtedly belongs in jail,” Lake said.
