    Millions of users worldwide are facing significant disruptions as Microsoft 365 services experience a major outage this morning.

    The outage, which began around 7:45 AM ET, has caused widespread issues with popular Microsoft apps such as Outlook and Teams, which are integral to daily work operations for many businesses.

    According to Microsoft’s Service Health Status page, the company is focusing its investigation on problems with token generation within its authentication infrastructure.

    “We are investigating the issue and focusing on token generation within our authentication infrastructure,” Microsoft’s statement reads.

    Microsoft labeled the issue as “Service Degradation” for web-based applications but did not provide an estimated time for resolution.

    For now, the company has advised users to access their Microsoft 365 apps and documents through desktop applications as a temporary workaround.

    “We recommend using desktop apps as an alternative while we work on resolving the issue,” Microsoft advised.

    The disruption has particularly affected key services within the Microsoft 365 suite, including Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and even newer tools like Copilot and Purview.

    However, it is Outlook and Teams that have drawn the most complaints from users, especially as many rely on these services to communicate and manage their workday.
