Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed deep concern over the death of Mr. Jimoh Abdulqadir while in police custody, calling the incident “unacceptable.” The governor assured the public that the state government is closely monitoring the investigation into the tragedy.
Governor AbdulRazaq lauded the swift response of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, who visited the deceased’s family in Ilorin hours after the incident was reported. The governor stressed the importance of ensuring a thorough investigation and that justice is served.
“We are devastated by the death of Mr. Jimoh Abdulqadir. It was one tragedy too many for our community,” Governor AbdulRazaq stated. He reiterated condolences to the family of the deceased and expressed confidence in the police leadership to get to the bottom of the incident. He also called for increased efforts to address other concerns raised by the public regarding police conduct.
In his statement, the governor urged the youth and residents of the state to stay calm, avoid rash judgments, and allow the investigation to unfold. He emphasized that the pursuit of justice should not be hindered by haste or unrest.
