    Saudi Arabia Sponsors 20 Nigerians for Lesser Hajj

    Saudi Arabia has once again demonstrated its dedication to fostering global Muslim unity by sponsoring 20 Nigerians to embark on the sacred journey of Umrah, or the lesser Hajj.

    The sponsored pilgrimage is part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Guests Programme for Umrah 2025. The initiative, a hallmark of King Salman Al Saud’s commitment to Islamic brotherhood, covers all expenses, including travel, accommodation, and other logistics for selected pilgrims.

    Farewell Ceremony at Saudi Embassy

    In Abuja, the Saudi embassy hosted a heartfelt farewell ceremony for the chosen pilgrims, underscoring the country’s dedication to supporting Muslims worldwide. The event was led by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal Al-Ghamdi, who highlighted the significance of the initiative.

    “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince have prioritised the well-being of pilgrims, viewing it as a sacred duty and an immense honour,” Ambassador Al-Ghamdi said during the event.

    Saudi Arabia’s investments in pilgrimage infrastructure have reached staggering heights, with over $100 billion reportedly spent on the expansion and modernisation of the two holy mosques. The upgrades include advanced crowd management systems and state-of-the-art technology to accommodate the growing number of worshippers.

    “These ambitious projects reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing a seamless and spiritually fulfilling experience for all pilgrims,” Al-Ghamdi noted.
