Popular Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has stirred controversy once again by publicly declaring himself a “mad man” undergoing psychiatric treatment.

This startling revelation comes just hours after the Nigeria Police Force declared him wanted in connection with an alleged assault on three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Portable, known for his eccentric personality and dramatic antics, took to Instagram to share his side of the story.

“I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients,” Portable said.

He explained that he is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

    Trouble with Town Planners

Portable’s latest controversy began when he clashed with officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The officials—identified as Town Planner (TPL) Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were on a monitoring assignment when they visited a building allegedly owned by Portable.

According to reports, the building, which houses the popular Odogwu Bar, is situated in Ota, Ogun State.

During the visit, the officials met Portable’s father, who informed them that his son was unavailable and that he could not provide the necessary documents they were requesting.

However, the situation escalated when Portable allegedly arrived with a gang of nine armed thugs, who attacked the officials.

Despite the town planners identifying themselves, the confrontation reportedly turned violent, leading to the officials fleeing the scene.

The incident prompted the Nigeria Police Force to intervene, resulting in the arrest of the nine armed thugs. Portable, however, fled the scene and has since gone into hiding, leading to the police declaring him wanted.

    Portable’s Emotional Appeal

In a bid to defend himself, Portable took to social media, pleading with Nigerians and the Ogun State government to understand his predicament.

He insisted that he was not a criminal but someone battling psychiatric challenges.

“I am from Abeokuta, and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief, I help people around me without even looking at their background,” he said.

The singer’s emotional plea has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions from fans and critics alike.

    A History of Controversy
