    Share

The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into the death of Mr. Adedokun Oluyemi, a supervisor at Solution One Hotel in the Ago Oko area of Abeokuta. Oluyemi, whose lifeless body was found on Saturday morning, was reportedly discovered by a bar assistant at the hotel after repeated attempts to reach him failed.

According to reports from the police, the hotel bar attendant, identified as Taiyelolu, grew concerned when she could not get a response from Oluyemi. After knocking several times and trying to reach him without success, she eventually forced open the door to Oluyemi’s hotel room. She found him lying unresponsive on the bed, prompting her to alert the Oke Itoku police division.

The police arrived at the scene shortly afterward and took Oluyemi’s body to the State Hospital, Ijaye, in Abeokuta. According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, there were no visible signs of violence on the deceased’s body, indicating that foul play was not immediately apparent.

“The bar attendant, Taiyelolu, made the report after several unsuccessful attempts to reach Mr. Oluyemi,” Odutola explained. “Upon gaining access to the room, she discovered him lying lifeless on the bed. The police were quickly alerted, and emergency services were dispatched to the scene.”

Despite medical intervention, Oluyemi was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The police spokesperson further stated that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death. The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has now taken over the case to conduct a more thorough investigation.

“The body has been deposited at the State Hospital mortuary for an autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing. We are in the process of notifying the family and providing them with the necessary support during this difficult time,” said Odutola.

In addition to launching an investigation, the police have expressed their condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Oluyemi. Odutola also took the opportunity to advise businesses and employers to consider offering medical insurance and regular health checkups for their staff. “It is important that employers take proactive measures to ensure the health and well-being of their workers,” she added.

The tragic death of Oluyemi follows a similar incident earlier this month. On March 7, a 62-year-old hotel attendant named Abel Johnson was found dead in his room at De-Lay Classic Hotel in Kajola Village, near Obafe Town, Ogun State. Johnson’s body was discovered after he was last seen the evening before his death. Like Oluyemi, there were no visible signs of foul play, but the cause of his death remains under investigation.

The deaths of Oluyemi and Johnson have raised questions about the safety and health conditions of hotel staff in Ogun State, especially considering the similar circumstances surrounding both incidents. While there has been no indication of any criminal activity in either case, the police have vowed to thoroughly investigate both incidents.

The family and friends of Oluyemi are still in shock over the sudden loss, and they are waiting for the results of the autopsy to better understand what led to his untimely death. Many have expressed their disbelief, as Oluyemi was known to be a hardworking and dedicated supervisor at Solution One Hotel.

Hotel workers across the state are also reportedly concerned about their own health and safety following the tragic events. Some have called for more support from hotel owners and employers to ensure that their staff are regularly monitored and given adequate health care.

The Ogun State Police Command has assured the public that it is doing everything possible to determine the cause of Mr. Oluyemi’s death and ensure that justice is served. However, the tragic nature of these deaths has underscored the importance of monitoring the well-being of workers, especially those working in high-demand, service-oriented jobs such as hotel attendants and supervisors.

While the investigation is still ongoing, the deaths of Oluyemi and Johnson have once again highlighted the need for employers to prioritize the health and safety of their workers, particularly in the hospitality industry.

As the police continue their investigations into the circumstances surrounding both deaths, the families of the deceased are left with unanswered questions, and the local community is left grappling with the mystery of what really happened to these two hardworking individuals.

For now, both the police and the affected families await the outcome of the investigations, while the Ogun State government has expressed its condolences to the families involved and promised continued support. In the meantime, workers across the state are calling for greater attention to be paid to their welfare in the wake of these shocking incidents.
