    Four Robbers Die in Accident While Fleeing with Stolen Vehicle, Survivor Arrested

    The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a robbery suspect after a dramatic escape attempt led to the death of four of his accomplices in a road accident. The incident unfolded in the early hours of March 25, 2025, when the armed robbers stole a vehicle at gunpoint and attempted to flee the scene, only to meet a fatal end during their escape.

    According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Nasarawa State, SP Ramhan Nansel, the armed robbers targeted a residential area behind the Keffi Township Stadium. They stole a Toyota Camry at gunpoint from a resident, identified as Udochi Emeka. The robbers then fled in the stolen vehicle, setting off a chain of events that would lead to their downfall.

    The robbery was reported to the police at approximately 3:00 a.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Upon receiving the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, immediately ordered operatives to track and pursue the fleeing suspects. However, by the time the police arrived at the scene, the robbers had already fled.

    The police quickly began to monitor the route the suspects were likely to take, deploying officers to strategic locations. Their vigilance paid off when the robbers crashed the stolen vehicle at Bola Junction along the Keffi-Abuja Expressway while trying to evade arrest.

    The crash was fatal for four of the robbers, who died at the scene. Police operatives from the Goshen City Division acted swiftly, rushing the five occupants of the stolen vehicle to Johepz Medical Centre in Kuchika for urgent medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical staff, four of the robbers were confirmed dead by a doctor. The surviving suspect was placed under police custody while receiving medical treatment, according to the PPRO.

    Preliminary investigations into the robbery revealed that the stolen Toyota Camry belonged to Udochi Emeka, a resident near the Keffi Township Stadium. The police also recovered several items from the suspects, including assorted charms, two long knives, screwdrivers, multiple wristwatches, and twelve mobile phones of various brands.
