Fear and grief gripped Gobirawa and Kuki villages in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State as armed bandits launched another deadly attack on Saturday night, killing at least ten people, injuring many, and abducting several others.

The gunmen, who stormed the villages in large numbers, opened fire on residents and set houses and shops ablaze. Eyewitnesses described the attack as sudden and brutal.

“They came without warning and started shooting everywhere. It was like a battlefield,” a resident said.

More than ten villagers were reportedly taken away into the forest by the attackers, with the number of casualties possibly rising.

Residents have expressed deep frustration over the government’s continued failure to protect rural communities despite frequent attacks.

“We live in fear every day. This has become our reality, and the government is doing nothing,” another resident lamented.

There has been no official statement from the Katsina State Police Command at the time of filing this report, further deepening public anger and a sense of abandonment.

This latest violence follows similar deadly attacks in Malumfashi and Safana Local Government Areas. The state government had announced a security overhaul last week, but locals say the results are yet to be seen.

The worsening insecurity in Katsina — the home state of former President Muhammadu Buhari — continues to raise concerns across Nigeria, as calls grow louder for urgent and effective intervention.
