FRSC: No Deaths in Karu Multi-Vehicle Crash

    Share

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that no lives were lost in a multiple vehicle crash that occurred on Karu Bridge in Abuja on Monday. However, three people sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, said the accident involved six vehicles and happened around 3:00 p.m. on the busy Aya-Nyanya route in the Federal Capital Territory.

The vehicles involved include a Dangote truck, a Setraco company staff bus, a commercial Peugeot J5 bus, a black Toyota Camry, a Bajaj motorcycle, and a Peugeot 406 car.

Ogungbemide said 35 people were involved in the crash — 30 men and five women — and three men sustained injuries, including head trauma, fractures, and bruises.

“No deaths were recorded,” he stated, adding that the crash was caused by loss of control and the lack of proper road signage at a construction site managed by a Chinese firm.

The injured were taken to Asokoro General Hospital and Nyanya General Hospital for treatment, while the truck, motorcycle, and J5 bus were taken into custody by the police.

Ogungbemide advised construction companies to ensure proper road signs are placed at work zones to prevent such incidents in the future.
