    Kidnap Victims Freed in Military Operation

    Troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside other security agencies, have rescued eight kidnapped victims and killed one suspected kidnapper in a successful operation at the border between Kogi and Enugu States.

    The rescue mission took place on Thursday, May 23, 2025, around 2:00 p.m. at a kidnappers’ hideout near the Isi River, located between Nokwa community in Kogi State and Nimbo in Enugu State. The operation followed credible intelligence reports and was part of ongoing efforts to flush out criminal elements in the area.

    According to military sources, the troops engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle. Outnumbered and overwhelmed, the criminals fled, abandoning their captives. One of the suspected kidnappers was neutralised during the encounter.

    The eight rescued victims, all found unharmed, were identified as:

    Military officials said the operation was swift and professionally executed, preventing any harm to the hostages. The victims have since been reunited with their families.

    Following the success of the operation, troops have intensified patrols and surveillance in the general area to prevent a resurgence of criminal activity. Security forces are also tracking down fleeing members of the gang.

    The rescue comes amid growing concerns over kidnapping and banditry across parts of Nigeria. Both Kogi and Enugu States have seen increased joint military activity aimed at tackling insecurity, especially in rural border communities.
