Manchester United have officially confirmed that three senior players—Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Christian Eriksen—will leave the club at the end of the season.

The announcement came shortly after United’s final game of the season on Sunday, where they defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at Old Trafford. Eriksen, one of the departing stars, scored the second goal from the penalty spot, marking his farewell with a special moment.

Lindelof Bids Goodbye After 8 Years

Swedish defender Victor Lindelof leaves United after eight seasons. He joined from Portuguese club Benfica in 2017 and made 284 appearances for the Red Devils. During his time at the club, Lindelof won the FA Cup and League Cup and scored four goals, all at Old Trafford.

Lindelof came off the bench in last year’s FA Cup final win against Manchester City and made his final start for the club in Sunday’s match. The 29-year-old received a warm send-off from fans at the stadium.

Veteran Northern Irish defender Jonny Evans also played his final game for United. Evans, a product of United’s youth academy, made his senior debut in 2007 and was a key part of the defence for many years. He left the club in 2015 but returned in 2023 for a second spell.

In total, Evans played 241 games for the Red Devils, scoring eight goals. He won three Premier League titles, a Champions League, a Club World Cup, and a League Cup in his first stint. His recent return also saw him add another FA Cup medal.

Evans nearly marked his farewell with a goal on Sunday but was denied by a late save from Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

    Eriksen Leaves After Three Seasons

Christian Eriksen’s stay at Old Trafford lasted three years, but the Danish midfielder made a big impression. He played 107 games for United, scoring eight goals. Eriksen was praised for his creativity and control in midfield.

Though he missed the 2023 League Cup final due to injury, he still earned a winners’ medal and later lifted the FA Cup with the team. In Sunday’s game, club captain Bruno Fernandes handed him the penalty opportunity, which he calmly converted before being applauded by teammates and fans alike.

All three players received warm ovations from fans at Old Trafford during their farewell appearances. Manchester United thanked Lindelof, Evans, and Eriksen for their dedication and service to the club and wished them the best in their future careers.

Their departure marks the end of an era and signals further changes ahead for United as they prepare for a new season.
