Three members of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry were kidnapped on Monday evening while returning from a Bible study session in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred around the Kasemola area in the Ogbese axis, a rural part of the council. The victims had just left a church gathering when they were attacked and taken away by unknown gunmen.
The church raised the alarm through a message posted on its WhatsApp platform, calling on members and the public to pray for the safe return of those abducted.
“Kindly pray along with us. Three of our members were kidnapped yesterday after Bible study at Kasemola inside the Ogbese axis. We are seeking divine intervention to secure their release. The case has been reported to the police and Amotekun Corps,” the message read.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident. Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, told journalists that security agents had already begun tracking the kidnappers in the surrounding forest.
“I can confirm to you that there is an issue of kidnapping, but I cannot confirm the number of victims for now,” Ayanlade said.
Local security outfit Amotekun Corps has also joined the search as tension rises in the community. Residents are calling for improved security, especially for rural churches and evening gatherings.
No ransom demand had been made public as of the time of filing this report.
