Several known bandit leaders in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State have laid down their arms and released 16 kidnapped victims as part of a peace initiative aimed at ending insecurity in the region.
The group, which includes notorious figures such as Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black, handed over their weapons to security authorities on June 14, 2025. The move follows ongoing efforts by the government to encourage voluntary disarmament and reintegration.
The released hostages—seven women and nine children—were immediately handed over to local government officials for medical care and rehabilitation. The repentant bandits have also promised to free the remaining captives by June 15 and have pledged to abandon banditry for good.
Government officials and community leaders have welcomed the development, describing it as a major step forward in restoring peace and normalcy to the troubled area. Authorities expressed hope that more armed groups would follow the same path and support ongoing peace efforts in Katsina and other parts of the North.
