The Nigerian Navy has successfully stopped a surprise attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents on the Naval Base at Lake Chad in Borno State.

The attack began around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, when the terrorists aimed to destroy new swamp buggies and other military equipment recently acquired by the Borno State Government to clear waterways in the Lake Chad Basin.

Thanks to a swift and well-coordinated response from Navy personnel, supported by land and air forces under Operation HADIN KAI, the insurgents were repelled and many were neutralized.

The Navy’s strong teamwork and firepower prevented the attackers from achieving their goal, safeguarding important equipment and the base itself.
