A Nigerian man identified as Chukuwuma has been arrested in Bengaluru, India, for allegedly trafficking hard drugs valued at over ₦214 million (₹1.2 crore).
The arrest was made during a raid by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru’s Narcotics Wing in the Avalahalli area, located in the northern part of the city. Authorities said the suspect was caught while attempting to distribute MDMA and crystal narcotics.
Reports from Indian media on Tuesday revealed that Chukuwuma has been involved in drug trafficking since 2013. He reportedly imported the drugs from abroad and supplied them across Bengaluru, especially in the outskirts of the city.
Police also disclosed that the suspect is believed to be part of an international drug syndicate. He had been under surveillance for weeks before the successful operation.
Chukuwuma is now in police custody and undergoing interrogation as authorities continue investigations to uncover the full network and arrest other members of the syndicate.
Drug trafficking remains a serious crime in India, with severe penalties, especially for those linked to international operations.
