Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has promised to increase the pay of his official music band after they entertained guests by singing in a funny version of the Chinese language during a recent public event.
The promise came on Thursday during the commissioning of a newly completed collector road linking Mabushi to the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe. The road was built by a Chinese construction company.
At the event, the band’s lead singer amused the crowd by performing a playful song that sounded like Chinese, as a fun tribute to the Chinese contractors.
The performance brought laughter from the audience, including Minister Wike, who was clearly entertained.
In response, Wike jokingly announced he would raise the band’s wages, saying, “Now that my band can sing in Chinese language, I’ll increase their fees.”
The band quickly followed up with another lively song, repeating the phrase, “Agreement is agreement,” while calling out the Minister’s name, adding more joy to the occasion.
The light-hearted moment was one of the highlights of the road commissioning event.
