The Federal Government has announced that Nigerian airline, Air Peace, has officially secured a landing slot at the prestigious Heathrow Airport in London, following months of diplomatic efforts.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, revealed the development on Sunday, stating that it was the result of intense negotiations under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Keyamo shared the news via his official social media page, expressing pride in the achievement and stressing the government’s commitment to supporting local airlines.

“My dear compatriots, after many months of diplomatic exchanges and shuttles, insisting on our reciprocal rights under our Bilateral Air Services Agreement, we are pleased to announce that Nigeria has finally secured the coveted Heathrow slot for one of our flag carriers, Air Peace,” he wrote.

He added that the move is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which includes strengthening local businesses and improving services for Nigerians.
