Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) under the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected traffic robbers in the Ketu and Mile 12 areas of Kosofe.
The suspects, identified as Yemi Aparaojo, 33, popularly known as “Asa,” and Samuel Adekunle, 37, also called “Omo-jo-Ibo,” were arrested on Tuesday morning around 11:00 a.m., according to a statement posted by the RRS on its official Facebook page.
Aparaojo is said to be an ex-convict who was released from Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre in May 2025 after serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence. His accomplice, Adekunle, is reportedly linked to several cases of robbery targeting road users in the Ajelogo and Ketu areas.
The arrest followed a robbery incident last week, where the suspects and two others allegedly attacked a pedestrian and forcefully took N25,000 from him after initially begging him for money. When the victim attempted to help, they assaulted him and stole the cash.
On spotting Adekunle on Tuesday, the victim quickly alerted RRS operatives, who moved swiftly to arrest the duo. The remaining two gang members reportedly fled into Ketu Market and are still at large.
The Commander of RRS, CSP Sola Jejeloye, confirmed the arrests and stated that in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, security patrols have been intensified along the Ketu and Mile 12 corridors to tackle street crimes.
Jejeloye also confirmed that the arrested suspects will be charged to court immediately, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement for quick action.
