The young woman whose lifeless body was found in a gutter in Uyo on Thursday morning has been identified as Goodness Israel, a single mother of two from Mbiabong Itam in Itu Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
Her body was discovered in the early hours of June 26, 2025, along a busy street in the capital, sparking shock and sadness across the community. Photos of the deceased quickly made rounds on social media as concerned citizens sought help in identifying her.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said in Uyo on Wednesday that the deceased’s identity was revealed through her NIN, which was found on her body.
“The name on the NIN found is ‘Goodness Edem Israel’. Investigation is ongoing; I will provide further update”
The circumstances surrounding her death are still unclear, and local authorities have not yet released an official statement. Many in the community are now calling for a thorough investigation to find out what led to her tragic end.
This incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of women in Uyo and the rising number of unresolved deaths in the state.
