A former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, Daniel Bwala, has said the former Vice President may never become Nigeria’s president, despite several attempts.
Bwala made the remark during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television program, on Monday. According to him, Atiku’s best opportunity to become president was during the 2023 general election, but he failed to win.
“There is my former principal who believes that he is going to win,” Bwala said, referring to Atiku’s ambition for 2027. “In all honesty, I have expressed my opinion that it may never have been destined by God for him to be president.”
He added, “2023 was the biggest opportunity that my former principal Atiku Abubakar had. He will never have that kind of privilege again.”
Bwala, who worked closely with Atiku during the 2023 campaign, has since switched sides and now supports President Bola Tinubu. He also dismissed the chances of Atiku, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi — key figures in a proposed opposition coalition to unseat Tinubu in the next election.
Atiku Abubakar has contested for president six times and is widely believed to be preparing for another run in 2027.
