Nigeria’s Flying Eagles started their 2025 WAFU B U-20 Championship campaign with a 1-1 draw against hosts Ghana on Wednesday.
The match, played in Ghana, saw the Black Satellites dominate the early stages, keeping the Flying Eagles pinned in their own half.
Ghana captain, Aziz Misbau, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after sustained pressure.
Nigeria responded late in the second half. Abdullahi Muhammad scored the equaliser in the 80th minute, rescuing a point for the defending champions.
The Flying Eagles, coached by Aliyu Zubairu, will face Benin Republic in their next group match as they aim to retain their WAFU B title.
