Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect following rising insecurity and violent attacks in the area.
The announcement was made in a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, on Friday in Yola.
According to the statement, the curfew became necessary due to recent disturbances and violent clashes that have threatened peace in several communities within Lamurde.
“The government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” Wonosikou said.
He warned that anyone found violating the curfew would be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.
Governor Fintiri’s administration restated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and called for the cooperation of residents in restoring peace to the affected areas.
