The Lagos State Local Government Elections began on a patchy note on Saturday, with some polling units starting early while others faced significant delays.

In Ward B of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, election materials arrived promptly by 8:00 a.m., and voters started casting their ballots peacefully. At Polling Unit 043, materials arrived by 8:30 a.m., but voting had not yet started as officials were still setting up by 9:12 a.m.

However, in Ward C of Yaba Local Council Development Area, many polling units experienced delays due to the late arrival of election officials and materials. At Polling Unit 046, there were no officials or ballot boxes by 8:58 a.m., and party agents waited anxiously. Polling Unit 027 faced a similar situation, with no sign of LASIEC staff or materials.

At Polling Unit 023 in Yaba, officials arrived just in time and were setting up the station while security personnel maintained order.

These mixed developments show the logistical challenges Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) still faces, even as voters across Lagos State turn out to elect chairmen and councillors in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
