The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the declared chairmanship seats in the just-concluded Lagos State Local Government elections.

According to results released by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), APC candidates were declared winners in all the local government areas (LGAs) and local council development areas (LCDAs) where results have been officially announced.

The election, which took place across the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos, saw the APC once again asserting its dominance in the state’s grassroots politics. This outcome is not surprising to many, as Lagos has been a stronghold of the APC and its predecessors for over two decades.

Some of the elected chairmen include Hon. Olamilekan Akindipe (Ajeromi-Ifelodun), Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson (Alimosho), Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe (Kosofe), Hon. Haruna Aruwe (Mushin), and Otunba Kehinde Almaroof-Oloyede (Oshodi-Isolo).

The full list of declared winners shows a clean sweep by the APC, with no opposition party winning any chairmanship seat as of the time of this report.

Observers say the results reflect the party’s deep-rooted structure in Lagos politics, although there were calls from civil society groups and opposition parties for improvements in the electoral process.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission is expected to release more detailed reports and final results in the coming days.
