The Abia State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped victims and arrested several suspects involved in the crime. The operation also led to the recovery of ₦2 million in cash, believed to be part of a ransom, as well as a red Lexus Jeep and other items.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the rescue took place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at about 5:30 pm. The victims—Onyedikachi Peter Onyegesi from Akpou, Isuochi (Abia State), Ifeanyi Nnabuife, and Amarachi Nwaebubu (both from Anambra State)—were rescued from their captors after police operatives acted on a reported kidnapping incident at Afojide Market, Isuochi.
DSP Chinaka explained that the operation was carried out by the Intelligence Response Unit in collaboration with other tactical teams.
Items recovered during the operation include:
-A red Lexus 350 Jeep
– ₦2 million cash
– Three mobile phones
– Two leg chain shackles
Some of the suspected kidnappers were arrested at the scene and are currently being questioned by the police.
The Abia State Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of all residents.
