Yoruba Nation campaigner, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has reacted to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, recalling a midnight raid on his home by security agents during Buhari’s time in power.
In a video circulating on social media, Igboho said the late president sent Department of State Services (DSS) officers to kill him at midnight on July 4, 2021, during the peak of his self-determination campaign in the South-West.
“I thank God for my life today. See life! The man that sent DSS to come and kill me in the middle of the night has died, but I’m still alive,” Igboho said in Yoruba language.
He further alleged that Buhari worked with some Yoruba people to carry out the attempted attack on him. “The man that ganged up with some stupid Yoruba people came to my house to take my life, but God said no,” he added.
The former president, Muhammadu Buhari, passed away in London on Sunday after a brief illness. While his family did not disclose the exact cause of death, reports claim he had been battling leukemia.
His body is expected to be flown back to Nigeria today for burial in his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.
Igboho was declared wanted by the DSS in 2021 after his house in Ibadan was raided. Several of his associates were arrested during the operation, while he later fled Nigeria and spent time in Benin Republic before regaining freedom.
