Kano Police Arrest 28 Suspected Thugs in Major Crackdown

The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of 28 suspected thugs during a special three-day operation aimed at tackling rising cases of thuggery in the state.

The operation, code-named Operation Kukan Kura, was carried out between Saturday, July 12 and Monday, July 14, 2025, across several flashpoints in the Kano metropolis.

In a statement released on Monday, the police described the effort as a “successful clearance operation” aimed at restoring peace and ensuring public safety.

Led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, alongside his top commanders, the exercise resulted in the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs. The police also noted that no cases of phone snatching or theft were recorded during the operation.

“The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their commitment and dedication to duty,” the statement said. “He charged them to sustain the momentum in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state.”
