German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have joined the list of clubs showing interest in Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who is set to leave Leicester City this summer.
Ndidi, 28, is looking for a move away from Leicester following the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season. The Super Eagles star reportedly has a release clause of £9 million in his contract, making him an affordable target for many top clubs.
According to football transfer expert Ben Jacobs, several European clubs have made contact with Ndidi’s camp. Manchester United have already held talks with his representatives, while Everton and two other Premier League teams have also made enquiries.
Abroad, Spanish side Real Betis, Italian giants Juventus, and clubs from Saudi Arabia are all monitoring his situation.
Ndidi has been with Leicester City since January 2017 and played a key role in the club’s FA Cup win in 2021. Despite signing a new three-year contract last summer, his desire to play top-flight football is pushing him towards a move.
With Leverkusen now joining the race, the Nigerian midfielder could be set for a big switch in the coming weeks.
