Muhammed Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, has officially accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), rejecting reports that he turned down the position.

In a press statement released on Monday, Babangida expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity, describing the role as an honour and a call to national service.

“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement read.

Babangida described the earlier reports of rejection as false, malicious, and aimed at misleading the public and damaging the credibility of the Tinubu administration.

He assured Nigerians that those behind the misinformation would be investigated and held accountable.
