President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that Nigeria’s political history would have been incomplete if he had lost the 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu made the remark on Sunday during the 8th Day Fidau prayers held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, in honour of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

Paying glowing tribute to the late monarch, Tinubu credited part of his electoral success to Oba Adetona’s support and blessings.

“Our history would not have been completed, carefully and richly, if I failed the last election,” Tinubu said. “I was successful because of your support and the blessing of the late Awujale. I came to him, and he said, ‘You will win that election and you will win one more time. Go ahead.’ Today, he is no more. He is gone.”
