A member of the Northern Elders Forum and former presidential adviser, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has expressed deep concern over the state of the nation, saying no one is completely satisfied with the way Nigeria is heading.
Baba-Ahmed made the comment on Wednesday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television.
The former adviser to President Bola Tinubu said his recent decision to leave the administration did not come as a surprise to many within the Northern Elders Forum.
“Some members of the Northern Elders Forum knew about my feelings about the job, about the administration, about the direction this country was going. They knew I was unhappy about many things. So it wasn’t entirely a surprise when I walked around and said I am back,” he said.
He cited growing hunger, insecurity, and continued bloodshed as major reasons why Nigerians are losing hope.
“Nobody would tell you that they are entirely happy with the way the country is going. There is too much hunger, insecurity, and bloodshed,” he added.
Baba-Ahmed’s remarks come at a time of widespread public frustration over rising food prices, economic hardship, and persistent security challenges across the country. His resignation and critical comments are likely to fuel ongoing national debates over the performance of the Tinubu-led administration.
The Northern Elders Forum, to which Baba-Ahmed belongs, has often called for accountability, national unity, and better governance, especially in the northern parts of the country that have been hit hard by banditry and insurgency.
