Barely 48 hours after gunmen killed three farmers on the outskirts of Janbako village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, bandits have returned to the same area, launching another deadly attack.
The latest assault took place in the early hours of Tuesday, leaving one resident dead and another seriously injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers stormed the community in large numbers on motorcycles, shooting randomly and causing panic among residents before fleeing into the nearby bush.
A local resident, who spoke anonymously, said, “They came suddenly and started shooting everywhere. One person was killed, another was injured, and some people were taken away again.”
This attack comes just two days after a similar incident in the area where three farmers were shot dead, several others abducted, and one person injured while working on their farmlands.
The continued attacks in Maradun LGA have raised fresh concerns about the worsening security situation in Zamfara State, where banditry and kidnappings remain rampant despite efforts by security forces.
