Senate: Natasha Still Suspended Until After Recess

    Share

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central remains suspended and will not be allowed to return to legislative duties until the Senate reconvenes in two months’ time.

This was made known by the Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, during an interview on Politics Today, aired Tuesday on Channels Television.

Just hours earlier, Akpoti-Uduaghan was barred from entering the Senate chamber after attempting to resume her duties on July 22, 2025.

“The Senator is still suspended, and it will remain so till the Senate resumes back from recess in two months,” Adaramodu said. “We are lawmakers, not spectators. The issue at hand has gone beyond content creation — it’s now like a full-blown film.”

Senator Natasha was originally suspended in March 2025 following a confrontation in the Senate chamber involving a disagreement over seat arrangements. The tension escalated after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual misconduct — a claim Akpabio has strongly denied.
