The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a new date and venue for its upcoming elective national convention. The convention, initially planned for August 2025, will now hold in November in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

This was disclosed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Thursday during the party’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

The convention, which is expected to produce new national leaders for the party, was earlier scheduled to hold in Kano.

Meanwhile, Acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, revealed that several members who had joined political coalitions have started returning to the party. According to him, many now admit they never truly left the PDP but only attended a few coalition meetings.

Describing the coalition as a failed experiment, Damagum said the PDP remains the only political party with the structure, spread, and experience to lead Nigeria effectively.

“We are the only party with the national presence and legacy to take Nigeria forward,” Damagum said confidently, adding that the PDP is ready to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The November convention is expected to be a major turning point for the PDP as it positions itself for the 2027 general elections.
