A 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, from Garin Abba village in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, has allegedly killed her husband following a heated argument over food.
The Yobe State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement released to journalists on Wednesday. According to the police, the suspect struck her husband with a piece of wood during the altercation, which led to his death.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said an investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be charged in court soon.
“The victim, a polygamous husband with two wives and five children, including the accused, leaves behind a grieving family,” the statement noted.
Reacting to the incident, the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, expressed concern over rising cases of domestic violence. He stressed the importance of community and religious leaders playing a stronger role in educating couples on peaceful conflict resolution.
“The Command remains committed to maintaining security and safety for all citizens,” Ado added.
The incident has sparked discussions within the community on the need for better handling of marital conflicts and the importance of seeking help before disputes turn violent.
