Nigeria’s Super Falcons pulled off a dramatic comeback to defeat hosts Morocco 3–2 and claim their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title on Saturday night, July 26, 2025.

The Moroccans started strong, scoring in the 13th and 24th minutes to take a 2–0 lead before half-time, putting the Nigerian side under pressure.

But the Super Falcons fought back after the break. In the 63rd minute, Esther Okoronkwo calmly converted a penalty after a Moroccan defender handled the ball in the box.

Eight minutes later, Okoronkwo turned provider, racing down the right flank and delivering a cross that Folashade Ijamilusi poked into the net to level the score at 2–2.

The game seemed headed for extra time until substitute Jennifer Echegini struck in the 88th minute, finishing off an Okoronkwo free kick to seal a stunning 3–2 win.
