President Bola Tinubu will today, Monday, receive Nigeria’s national women’s football team, the Super Falcons, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja following their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The team is expected to arrive in Nigeria late Sunday night, after defeating host nation Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final match on Saturday. The Super Falcons came from two goals down to seal their 10th WAFCON title.
President Tinubu is expected to reward the players and officials generously for their achievement. On the eve of the final, he had approved the payment of all outstanding allowances and bonuses owed to the team.
The Super Falcons remain the most successful team in African women’s football history, and their latest victory has sparked celebrations across the country. The Monday reception in Abuja is part of official recognition for their hard work and dedication.
