    WAFCON 2024: WTO DG Celebrates Falcons’ Victory

    Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has praised the Super Falcons for their dramatic win over Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.

    Nigeria’s Super Falcons came from two goals down to defeat host nation Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling match played at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday night.

    The Moroccan team had taken a 2-0 lead in the first half through Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy. But Nigeria bounced back in the second half, scoring three goals through Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini.

    The victory gave the Super Falcons their 10th WAFCON title, strengthening their reputation as Africa’s most successful women’s football team.
