ADC Will Die in Three Months – Ali Modu Sheriff

    Share

Former Borno State Governor and APC chieftain, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has predicted the collapse of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming the party lacks structure, unity, and political relevance.

Speaking during a television interview on Monday, Sheriff dismissed rumours linking him to the ADC, describing the party as a “gathering of presidential hopefuls” without a clear direction or foundation.

“People say I’m going to ADC—wrong. Which ADC? Do they even have a political party?” he said. “Give them three months. The party will die down because all of them are ‘presidential materials’. But only one person can be a candidate.”

Sheriff also took a swipe at politicians reportedly considering the ADC as a new political platform, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, and ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai. He said they are trying to replicate what the APC achieved years ago but without the needed political strength.

“When we formed APC, we had about 15 governors. Tinubu came with four states, ANPP came with five or six, and a breakaway PDP brought four. Today, we have 73 senators, over 20 states, and majority in the House of Reps,” he explained.

In contrast, Sheriff said the ADC lacks any such structure and described the group as individuals with personal ambitions rather than a united political movement.

“They all want to be president at all costs. That’s their right, but politically speaking, ADC doesn’t exist,” he added.

The comments have stirred fresh debate about the future of opposition politics in Nigeria, especially as the 2027 general elections approach.
