President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adeyemi Olumode as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), retired Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jubril.
Olumode’s appointment follows the retirement of the current Controller-General, Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will officially leave office on August 13 after turning 60.
According to Jubril, Olumode is well qualified for the position, having completed all required training and courses both within and outside Nigeria. He previously served in the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose to the rank of Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources.
Olumode is also a fellow of several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management.
His appointment is expected to bring fresh leadership and experience to the agency responsible for fire safety across the country.
