Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has sent the first batch of eight commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, the Governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, announced on Friday.
The move follows the recent dissolution of the state executive council by Governor Alia, who retained only the office of Chief of Staff. The position is now held by Barrister Moses Atagher, former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
According to the spokesperson, this step is important for improving the machinery of governance and ensuring better service delivery across key sectors in the state.
The nominees forwarded to the House of Assembly include:
– Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue
– Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver
– Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa
– Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo
– Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga
– Hon. Denis Iyaighgba
– Hon. James Dwem
– Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche
Mr. Kula also revealed that a second batch of nominees will be sent to the Assembly in the coming days.
This cabinet reshuffle comes as Governor Alia looks to strengthen his administration and boost governance in Benue State.
