Former Kogi West Senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has said that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is on a mission to rescue Nigeria from what he described as the “satanic manifestation” of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Melaye accused the APC-led government of leading Nigeria into crisis, saying Atiku is gathering credible individuals to help turn the country around.
“Atiku is yet to declare for 2027, but what he’s doing is rescuing this country. He is bringing together men of honour and valour to correct the satanic manifestation of APC in this country,” Melaye said.
Melaye, a former member of the APC, also publicly expressed regret for supporting the party in the past.
“I regret bringing APC to power, and through the Lord’s prayer, I confess my sins. Anyone who has moved with the devil and an unholy tendency should regret it,” he stated.
He described Nigeria’s current condition as the worst it has ever been, blaming the APC government for worsening insecurity, inflation, and hardship.
“It is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that we are in a precarious situation. It has never been this disastrous,” he added.
Atiku Abubakar, who served as Vice President from 1999 to 2007, was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 and 2023. Although he has not officially declared his intention to contest in 2027, close associates like Melaye suggest he remains active in political circles, working behind the scenes to build a new coalition.
